Homestuck Readers
Homestuck's main story hasn't always been easily available, but thanks to the work of many passionate fans and the reacquisition of Homestuck in 2023, the comic has become accessible for fans to read in whatever way they please!
We've grabbed a few notable ways to read the comic and listed them below, alongside some pros and cons.
Official Website
The official website, homestuck.com, features Homestuck in the style of Hussie's original website, MSPaint Adventures (MSPA). It features Homestuck and other works by the creator, with the comic being left exactly as it was finished alongside some small quality of life tweaks.
Pros
- Read anywhere! The site is (mostly) mobile accessible, so you can read Homestuck on the go!
- Officially supported! The site receives frequent updates from the Homestuck Team!
- Bonus content! The site features Hussie's newer works like Psycholonials and older adventures like Problem Sleuth!
Cons
- Accessibility: Some features like disabling typing quirks have not yet been implemented.
- Director's Cut: Over the years, some pages were changed retroactively for a variety of reasons. These small 'retcons' aren't too egregious, but may confuse first-time readers.
Unofficial Homestuck Collection
The Unofficial Homestuck Collection (UHC) has almost everything related to the main story of Homestuck in one package and is available as a downloadable application for Windows, macOS and Linux.
While not containing some of the more recent works of Andrew Hussie; Most official Homestuck works, including a few that are missing from the official site, are included in this collection with a bunch of added features to improve your experience.
The collection has a first-time reader mode that unlocks content such as the soundtrack while you make your way through the comic.
Pros
- Works offline! The app runs entirely on your computer and works without an internet connection!
- Quality of Life! The app features a ton of QoL features like music credits and unlocks certain features as you read!
- Bonus content! The app includes some additional content missing from the official site!
- Modding support! You can install extensions that provide accessibility or add even more features!
Cons
- Big File Size: The app requires a 4.1GB asset pack.
- PC Only: The app is intended for desktop use only.
- Performance: The app uses Electron + Vue and can be a little laggy because of this.
Other Ways
There are several sites that mirror Homestuck and related works. These vary in quality and reliability, but pose as a viable alternative to the main site. Check them out for yourself!
- MSPA To Go - A faithful, lightweight way to experience the MSPA website as it was in ye olden days! Pretty good!
- Acts & Pages - Spoiler warning! Shows you all of Homestuck's acts with recaps for if you took a break and needed a quick refresher! If you got confused by one of Homestuck's extremely dense animations, the recaps here are extremely comprehensive! A highly recommended recap companion for casual readers!
- Kici's Mirror - A mirror of the Homestuck website during the Viz Media era. This has low quality animations, broken games and other annoying jank. Please don't actually use this.
