Hussie's Toblerone Hunt

Hussie eating Toblerones outside of a cave with the text 'the hunt for the toblerone wishes' edited next to him.

Outta the way, Alex Hirsch! Homestuck creator Andrew Hussie has a REAL hunt for you!

Andrew Hussie has accrued a long history with the Swiss chocolate brand Toblerone. The cacao confection became a meme after an image of the Homestuck creator began circulating depicting them devouring the delicacy outside of a cave. Throughout 2019, Hussie began leaving serialized Toblerone bars behind on their travels, sharing pictures of them on their socials, sparking a global hunt to find them all.

If a reader of Homestuck were to find one of these triangular treats, they would be entitled to a "wish" that Hussie would have to fulfill to the best of their ability. These wishes differed, some requesting fanart while others asked to change the very fabric of canon itself. Some fans also gave contingency wishes. These would be considered in cases where the wish couldn't be granted.

In 2026, we inquired about these wishes and were given access to a majority of the emails relating to them, as well as confirmation that they had not yet forgotten about granting them. The Homestuck IP is still alive and kicking, so the current teams are working to fulfill people's wishes to this day.

The Wishes

While not every fan who found one of the Toblerones submitted a wish, many did. Below are all documented wishes:

You can click or tap a wish to get more information on its history, status, sources and even possible backup wishes!

Toblerone #2 - Point Lobos, CaliforniaAnonymous

The 2nd Toblerone was found in San Francisco. The fan who found it would request that the popular worm-on-a-string toy known under the brand name Squirmles be mentioned somewhere in Homestuck lore. The fan also mentioned wanting to write a short canon scene for post-canon.

A wish I could have for Homestuck would be small (as I know it may be too much to ask if I could write a Homestuck epilogue, or write a small scene that would be considered canon... though I do have a lot of ideas for said scene/epilogue... though if you could grant that, I would be elated), but anyways, you know those weird worms things (I believe they are called squirmles)? I would really like for those to be mentioned somewhere in Homestuck lore... seriously seems like something that should be included.

just let me know which wish you chose to grant (if you choose any at all).

There is no information on the status of this wish. It may still be granted in the future.

Toblerone #4 - San Luis Obispo, California@JoeysArties

The 4th Toblerone was found in San Francisco. The fan who found it would request that Roxy Lalonde would at some point be revealed as a fan of the Donkey Kong Country games, as an expansion on their love for Nintendo.

On the 10th of August, 2023, this wish would be addressed in an update to Beyond Canon, where Sollux is shown playing Roxy's copy of Donkey Kong Country (1994) on a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1991), colloquially known as the SNES.

Toblerone #8 - Point Lobos, California@placeholder4abn

The 4th, 1st, 3rd and 8th Toblerone were found in San Francisco. The 3rd and 4th would be replanted by the fan and the first edition Toblerone would go to the fan's brother in exchange for listening to the fan's theories, who ended up losing it before they were able to make a wish.

Ayo. I had #4, 1, 3, and 8. I hid 4 and 3 but I have contact info on the people who found them if you want them in on this email shenanigan. My brother has #1 (payment for him listening to me spout nonsensical theories) but he didn't Find it so _/(-.-)\_

#8 is still with me, though

June Egbert is a popular headcanon of John Egbert being transfem, with the name originating from the comic itself. After this wish was shared on Twitter, Hussie, in a (now deleted) reply stated that 'it will be done'.

James Roach, former director of Furthest Ring Studios, would later clarify that June Egbert had already been planned by Hussie long before the wish was submitted and that the wish only lead to Hussie confirming it would happen publicly.

On the 23rd of March, 2025, the wish would be addressed in Beyond Canon in an update teasing a silhouette figure wielding John's Warhammer of Zillyhoo, which many consider foreshadowing for June Egbert. Seeing as June Egbert has not yet explicitly appeared in any official content, this wish is only partially fulfilled.

Toblerone #10 - Point Lobos, Californiafurrylatula

The 10th Toblerone was found in San Francisco. The fan who found it would cycle through a few wishes before landing on one.

The fan cited the existing subtext as analysed by other fans as an inspiration, as well as the recent wish from another lucky hunter that lead to the reveal of June Egbert. Also mentioned was the symbolism of a trans woman being the first step for another character to realise that they are trans, with Vriska helping coin the name June in Act 5.

In their email to Hussie, the fan would specify that no narrative arc was needed and that a simple recontextualization where Vriska becomes trans retroactively would suffice. Hussie would respond to the email from the fan:

Congratulations on retrieving one of the Toblerones. I believe the creative team currently working on projects will be sympathetic to your wish, and should be able to implement something to that effect. I will pass the idea along to them and allow them to develop the idea at their discretion.

After this, Vriska's storyline in Pesterquest would make heavy allusions to her transness, mentioning how nice it can be to try out new names and be seen as someone else online. The F on her FLARP sheet's gender is also heavily emphasised. Beyond Canon would also reference this by adding a SPLENDOR DYSPHORIA tier to Vriska's echeladder.

Toblerone #13 - Point Lobos, CaliforniaPercy

The 13th Toblerone was found in San Francisco. The fan who found it would wish to be considered for a writing position, but also added that otherwise, seeing Eridan doing some good in canon would be okay too. The fan would be considered to work on Hiveswap (allegedly), thus granting their wish.

In October 2025, Andrew Hussie would release names, designs and descriptions for the Pre-Scratch beta trolls on the Homestuck Official Discord. Pre-Scratch Eridan was given the following description:

Eridan - Zoologer Coolscar

Widely recognized as the kindest and most wonderful troll of this group. Dedicates life to rescuing stray, childless lusus, or ones which have been injured or are unfit for parenting in some way. There really isn't much else to say about Coolscar except they are hands down, the best character in Homestuck, bar none.

With this revelation, A version of Eridan was finally given a life full of canonical good deeds. We contacted the fan with this information and they were delighted to hear it, saying that they considered their secondary wish granted.

Toblerone #?? - Point Lobos, Californiaimarriedacherub

The ??nd Toblerone was found in San Francisco. The fan who found it would request art of Dirk Strider and Caliborn in outfits based on their fan adventure, and alternatively a comment from Hussie on the fic, even if they didn't feel like reading it in full.

It would melt my little calcified heart to get "official fanart". I'm thinking a scribble of Dirk in a Hawaiian shirt or something quick. If that's a bit much, a comment on the fic would also be incredibly "dope", though it doesn't have to have your name attached or reference the work in any way. Not asking you to read it, just knowing my cursed tome was blessed somehow by the powers that be would let my tortured soul rest easy.

Hussie would share their artwork with the fan, depicting Dirk and Caliborn being "bros".

Toblerone #21 - Jiufen, Taiwan@_Abyss_Dream

The 21st Toblerone was found in a Jiufen teahouse. The fan who found it would share their discovery on Twitter. Originally, they intended to leave some behind for a friend, keeping one for themselves. Alas, another fan was faster and took the remaining two.

When asked about their wish, the fan responded stating that they wished for their trollsona to feature in HIVESWAP: ACT 2 as a background character.

This wish was forwarded to the Hiveswap team, who would go on to add their trollsona on a billboard that appears in the background of the game.

Toblerone #22 - Osaka, JapanAnonymous

The 22nd Toblerone was found in Osaka. It was originally taken by a fan who intended to give it to a friend. After some deliberation, it was decided to redistribute it in Japan. The confection would be discovered by a fan on December 7th, 2019, who submitted their wish almost an entire year later.

If wishes are still a thing that can happen I would like to see more Handmaid content, whether that be in Homestuck2 or Pesterquest or whatever form. She's my favorite character and I'd like to see any expansion on her in canon.

While this wish was not directly followed up on, the Megidos have received more familial lore through the reveal of the Beforan Ancestors, where Aradia's title as the Rankmaid references the Handmaid.

Toblerone #23 - Jiufen, TaiwanMakin

The 22nd and 23rd Toblerone were found in Jiufen teahouse, the former being redistributed. The wish would be the restoration of 2,747,369 posts from select boards on the defunct MSPA forums in the form of a read-only archive using server backups with the fan possibly helping out on it as a volunteer.

Unfortunately, despite Hussie and their team's best efforts, the data ended up being corrupted after a server transfer, making it unrecoverable. After this information was shared, the wish was considered granted by the fan.

The backup wish provided was for all remaining data on SBURB to be revealed and canonized, either as a series of tweets, as a book containing the lore or just unedited notes. This was under the condition that said information be fully public to all fans and not just the requestee.

If the above is unfeasible for whatever reason (though knowing the reason would be nice for closure's sake):

- I wish for all remaining data on SBURB to be revealed and canonized

Though you can always just tweet it out if that's easier, I don't mind waiting and having to pay for it in the form of a book. ... Worst comes to worst, we'll always take unedited notes. I remember a WP writer mentioning there was one such document related to classpects at the very least. To be clear, I want whatever data you can give us released to the fans, not just me, so we can make/complete all the awesome SBURB fangames people want to play and create more stories with the game as a setting.

Some information that was requested such as a classpecting document would later be shared in tidbits on the Homestuck Discord in the form of official class pairings. We inquired on if there was any more information and were told that there may be future plans to expand on aspects of the lore outside of Beyond Canon. When or how this will happen is unclear.

Toblerone #?? - Seoul, South Korea@oujjogim084

The ??nd Toblerone was found in Seoul. The fan who found it would request art of Gamzee wearing Hanbok, a traditional form of attire in Korean culture. A sprite of Gamzee wearing hanbok would appear as an easter egg in Pesterquest and the fan would be given an early sneak peek at this sprite.

This Toblerone was originally found together with #23, but later redistributed and planted in South Korea by a fan.

Toblerone #26 - Seoul, South Korea@0222836

The 26th Toblerone was found in Seoul. The fan who found it would request art of Dave Strider, Dirk Strider and Davepetasprite^2 without their shades, finally revealing what these characters would look like when they aren't wearing their opaque sunglasses.

If you don't mind, I would like to wish for you to draw a drawing of the strider brothers and davepeta without their sunglasses!

Hussie would respond privately with the requested art, which the fan would then share on Twitter.
